Most of the times, it is harder for me to read text written in the SMS language (i.e. 4, u, shd, thot, bcoz, etc.) than complete words. Maybe because 99% of what I read through the day is written in proper english. My brain takes long to decipher this code. Don’t know if I can teach new tricks to an old dog.

My caffeine-free week ended successfully on Sunday. I made a nice pot of coffee to celebrate it. Just after my first cup, I was so wired that I was talking almost constantly. V almost asked me to shut up. Today things are under control and back to normal.

In Ashwini’s dictionary, the meaning of the word “no” is: I think Mommy and Daddy liked what I just did; let’s do it again.

More than 72 hours since last caffeine intake. Still no headache. Don’t know what the deal is. But, I am getting extremely sleepy early in the night by 8pm.

I am still alive, but barely. Almost 48 hours since the last dose of caffeine. Still, no throbbing headache from lowered blood pressure. Maybe, I had too much caffeine stored in the body, it will take longer to flush it all out.

I am going caffeine free this week. My last cup of tea was on Sunday around 5pm. So, my next serving of a caffeinated drink will be at 5pm on this coming Sunday.

It is hard to believe that Ashwini’s first birthday is approaching so quickly. One more month to go. That’s it.

Ashwini is:
• trying to pull herself up to stand all the time. It is just a matter of days before she does it without any efforts.
• crawling cruising around the house at great speed.
• learning to speak new sounds everyday. V is trying to teach her to call me 'baba', but, she already likes to call me 'baap'.
• in love with her books. She prefers them instead of toys, except the piano in this photo. Maybe, we need to get some more interesting toys.
• learning to dance to tunes of the piano.
• continuing to admire herself in the mirror at every opportunity she gets.
• trying to do things such as picking up cheerios without looking at her hand.
• trying to do things such as picking up toys by looking at the image in the mirror.
• interested in throwing all kinds of objects on the floor while sitting in her high-chair or bed or changing table. She likes to watch them fall and scatter around the room.
• eating very well after recovering from her cold, cough and other illnesses.
• eating mixed foods like corn & sweet potatoes, green beans & potatoes, etc.
• sleeping through most nights, but sometimes wakes up to drink more milk.

Last night some freezing rain fell in our area. We woke up to a nice 1 cm think sheet of ice covering everything from houses to trees to roads. It was so slippery driving on it, at one point I thought I was going to end up in a ditch. I was trying to turn the car as the road turned to right, but the car kept going straight. Fortunately, a pile of snow hardened with ice stopped the car from getting off the road.

V got stuck on an ice patch on the way to work. Couldn’t get out for quite some time. Finally, after making the car go backwards, she could get enough traction to pull out of it.

On the road, there were usual overconfident SUVs sitting in ditches. One had hit the ditch really hard and broke its rear axle.

All in all, it was fun coming to work this morning. Had to use my driving skills after a long time.

I just love this album. There is a lot of spanish in there that I don’t understand. But, it doesn’t matter. The music and rhythm is just awesome. My current favorite song is ‘Amore (sexo)’ featuring Macy Gray. Macy’s voice is just excellent.
