Today as Winter Solstice marks the start of Winter season for northern hemisphere, I am hoping for clear skies on this longest night of the year.
Tulip nebula is an emission nebula in Cygnus. Not as bright and big as other nebulae around it but there is an interesting object in the same field of view. The blue lines point to the location of an X-ray source, Cygnus x-1 - the first ever black hole candidate discovered in 1964.
My first time going for a performance of Handel’s Messiah by Eastern Connecticut symphony chorus. It featured about 30 selected movements out of 53. The singing was quite good.
Elephant trunk nebula captured on Friday night. I really like the combination of emission and dark nebulosity in this star forming region. Some stars here are very young - only about 100K years old.

Ran a 5K at lunch time today. Gym at work organizes this every year around holiday time. It was cold (28F) but was fun to do it with all the colleagues. My phone told me that I had done this for at least last 10 years. Great!

Cold morning for a bike ride but there was no wind and that made it comfortable. Ponds in the area have started to freeze.
At work, the site-wide social and our department holiday party are both scheduled in this week - first week of December. That is unusually early. Wonder if there is any reason for that.

Watched a couple of episodes of this show “Landman” on Paramount+. Just an impression from the show but, I doubt that there ever will be a reason for me to visit Midland, TX.
Iris nebula (NGC7023) is located in Cepheus at 1300 ly. This reflection nebula is surrounded by dark dust and cold molecular gases making these convoluted fantastic shapes. This image is a stack of 48 five minute exposures.
Social media influencers are the worst humans that this Earth has produced and they will ultimately destroy the humanity.
