That was too much time spent in the car over 3 days. From Friday morning to Monday morning, I travelled between Maine and Washington DC area all along I-95 corridor totaling 1200+ miles. I don’t want to sit in a car for all of next week now.
One minute of recording in Merlin app and found so many birds by sound ID in a meadow in West Windsor, NJ. There are a few more that didn’t fit on this screen.
A quick trip to Maryland in DC area today to celebrate 90th birthday of my wife’s uncle. It will be a nice family event.
Yesterday drove my daughter back home from Bowdoin college. Can’t believe that she already completed her sophomore year - halfway through her college years already. She won’t go back to Bowdoin until January 2024. She has the summer fellowship project to study invasive plant species in conservation land trusts here in Connecticut and then in Fall, she will be away at University of Edinburgh for her study abroad semester.
It’s May 19th - time to look for pink lady’s slippers, one of the native orchids in northeast US. This lives only in certain habitats (bogs with acidic soil)and has a symbiotic relationship with a fungus that is needed for it to grow. Found this yesterday in Old Lyme, CT.
Now with his final high school concert and all the AP tests done, my son has to show his face at school and chill for next 4 weeks. Only important things left to do are senior prom and graduation. He doesn’t have to take any tests in his non-AP classes as his grades are good enough to be exempt.

Sound ID works so well in Merlin Bird app. It was my first experience with it and am thoroughly impressed.
They say that married people start to look like each other. It hasn’t happened to my wife and me yet but, we have definitely started to think alike over the years. We start solving “wordle” with different starting words but, our penultimate words are identical many many times.

I found out yesterday that Jerry Springer died two weeks ago. So sorry to hear that. He was a very interesting personality - going from being a progressive politician to king of trash TV.
This is a bad side effect of not consuming news - I don’t learn about important happenings like this.
