Done with my #givingtuesday donations. My employer is doing a double match (2:1) today instead of the regular 1:1 match. Making full use of that extra money.

Wide angle long exposure photos

Playing with long exposure (3 mins) photos with a 40 mm lens attached to Nikon Z6 on a SkyWatcher star tracker. Here is one that shows Andromeda galaxy (M31), top right and Triangulum Galaxy (M33), bottom center. Also two open star clusters: M34 in Perseus (left edge) and NGC 752 in Andromeda (left center). This is just a single image with contrast adjustments in Photoshop, not a stack of multiple images.

Another long exposure (3 min) photo showing Pleiades (bottom right), and ghostly reddish glow of California nebula (right of center). The bright star at top left is Capella and just above the roof, open clusters M36 and M38 are seen along with Flaming star and tadpoles nebula region in Auriga.

Today is #givingtuesday. Please consider making a donation to any cause(s) you believe in. The causes I donate to are conservation, hunger, equality, public radio and women’s rights.

Murakami is the best

Trying to get back into exercising on a rower using Apple Fitness. It is different than what I used to do before. Instead of rowing intervals with complete rest, it structures the workouts at different intensities. Going to take some time to get used to it.

I am just sick and tired of seeing Musk in the news all the time. Is there a way to filter him out other than a complete imbargo on media consumption?

Thanksgiving weekend in 4 photos

Only 3 more work weeks left in this year. We have Christmas week off and I am taking the week before off to use up vacation time.

Now that the long weekend is over and guests are gone, I am back to checking my social apps. There was no time to do this while interacting with our guests in real life. I admire those who can do live-blogging while living through life events. I haven’t learned how to do that.

Thanksgiving prep is going well. Looking forward to seeing friends tomorrow.

Today is our big cooking day for Thanksgiving. Have gotten started already. Daughter is on 4 am train from Maine to come home. Looking forward to another fun Thanksgiving.

Ron Desantis is a graduate from Yale and Harvard Law. These ivy league colleges should issue an apology for their failure in achieving their stated goal of educating students and making them good citizen.

The official start of Thanksgiving and Christmas season in our household means making homemade Chex mix.

Doing the first round of shopping for thanksgiving.

Damn! Only 6 weeks before this year ends!!!

There will be lunar occultation of Mars on Dec 7th, 2022. My location is just outside the area that will observe the occultation. I’ll be able to see Mars grazing the edge of the Moon. That will be pretty cool to observe as well. Penciling the day in my calendar.

Done with all the voluntary unpleasantness in life for a long time to come.
Ah! Spoke too soon. Time for performance evaluation at work. 😠😠

Playing around with my astrophotos for iPhone lock screen. This one with Elephant trunk nebula looks quite nice. I like it a lot.
